Help- car stereo 2001 civic

Need some help , bought a new car stereo deck. Wired it up and it came on, but the radio/accessory fuse blew, I replaced it and the radio came back on. Finished the wires with electrical tape to finish the job but then it would not turn on again.. fuse is good. Now the stock deck won't even work. Tried all I knew still nothing.. any ideas as to what's wrong ? Thanks

$20 says you hooked up the dimmer wire, huh (orange or orange/white wire)

Out of curiosity, do your dash lights still work?

Hrm.. then I got nothing. Usually, hooking that wire up leads to many, many headaches in the 7thgen (unsure of other generations). Check the back of the head unit, sometimes there's a fuse there. Did you solder the wires together or just twist and tape?

Re: Help- car stereo 2001 civic

There should be 2 separate fuses inline with head units wiring, check them both.

One has constant +12v and the other 12v when ignition on.

Figured I thought out! "Back up" fuse under the hood was blown, apparently that sends power to the radio

Yes, That would also cause symptoms (but you did not mention other weird issues with the car this would have brought on)

Thanks for update.

Re: Help- car stereo 2001 civic

I just got my 88 Civic DX 3 weeks ago (running a D15B7 came from 92-95) and it came without a stereo or anything besides dash lights and driving lights, would somebody mind giving me a step by step(very specific) guide on wiring up a new stereo deck and two 5" alpine speakers (speakers above the trunk)
