Problems with AUX Input

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my AUX input on my 2006 Honda Civic LX.

I have listened to music through a aux cable since I got the car in 2009 but now it stopped working. It just doesn't play music, even when I push the aux button on the radio. It'll play for a min or two then breaks over to the radio, if even that. But most of the time, it just won't switch to aux.

I've tried a different aux cable but it does the same thing. I've used the cables in other cars and they work fine so it can't be the cables.

Dealership wants me to pay $70 just for them to diagnose the issue.

Anybody have any idea what the issue is and how to solve it?

Re: Problems with AUX Input

There is a switch inside the aux jack that senses when a plug is in place. Sounds as if yours is intermittent.

You can replace the jack.... but it is a bit buried.

Re: Problems with AUX Input

First we verify the problem using another music device and cable that WE know works.

Then I'd expect to inspect the input jack and wiring to the radio. If nothing is found wrong, the next step might be a 'reboot'.

Make sure you have your radio code handy (if it has one).
Pull both battery cables off and connect them together for 10 minutes.
Reconnect the battery, unlock the radio, see if the aux input works again.

If the reboot doesn't work, guess what the next step would be.....
