Can anyone tell me what this is ??? and if i should upgrade/replace it or not

ok so im new to hondas and b16 motors and whatnot
just wondering what this wire is that comes from the
valve cover corner to the frame ???
i have seen videos and picture of other b series motors
with wires like this and some were a lot bigger than mine
whats the wire for?? is the ground?? and is thicker better in
this case ??
SEE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND OF PIC WHERE IT COMES OUT OF THE CORNER
OF THE VALVE COVER
just waning to know if i should replace mine with a new wire since its
not looking so hot or if i should just upgrade to a nice fat one
thanks for the help if any one can

Looks like an engine ground to chassis wire.
That looks retardedly small.

I'd replace it with at LEAST 8Ga wire.

And if there's paint under that bolt, I'd sand it off a bit to get to the metal for some better ground.

No problem.
That wire is so small I wouldn't even use it as speaker wire, let alone ground lol

than that as well... sadly for my motor haha

just finished changing out the wire a little bit ago
not hard at all and nothing big really but
if you check out the pics you can see the
difference and that old wire was just way too
small lol
but the last pic is of the finished product

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ??? and if i should upgrade/replace it or not

nope no solder under it but i used gold connectors so that's better than normal ones at least.lol but it made a difference once i changed the wire out i know that much. the HID's got a lot brighter so thats a plus. Right now it was just a quick fix as i have to get a positive terminal for my battery cable(current one wont completely tighten down and was going to get a better ground then too and replace them both. plus i dont have any solder around or i might of done that if i thought about it . thats what i do with all my speaker wires and what not so i know it helps but i didnt think it mattered when it came to the battery cable and grounds... im no expert or anything thats just from my personal experience ... but thanks for the tip and
hopefully i remember solder when i get the new terminal and ground lol

Really should be soldered and crimped, but at least it's a better alternative than what you originally had.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ??? and if i should upgrade/replace it or not

oh its crimped for sure . i might be a noob to hondas but thankfully im not a dummy lol
the black tape was on there to cover the crimped connector because i didnt have
any heat shrink and the connector part looked ugly after i crimped lol it so i just didnt want it showing and looking lame lol thus the black tape and the black wire cover.
but thanks for the input guys and my next ground will be soldered for sure that way i know i have nothing to worry about connection wise

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ??? and if i should upgrade/replace it or not

so i got a little pissed off at the bolt that holds down the ground on the corner of the valve cover as it was being a pain lol
so i completely moved the ground to the block and used a thicker wire and connector
i just put it where the compressor for the a/c would bolt in after i shaved a bolt down
because i dont have a/c and that ground to the motor block made more sense to me than the corner of the valve cover.
works great no issues
thanks for the tips and input i got from you guys on this one it helped me out

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ??? and if i should upgrade/replace it or not

this is just a small ground, not a big deal one, and it doesn't need to be huge. A lot of people place them behind the motor for a cleaner look, *** long as it bolts to the right side of the head or valve cover and to the body.
