Radio trouble!!!

So, I have a 2005 Honda Civic, the basic one with manual windows, locks, etc. I recently tried to install a new radio. I was holding the new unit in my hand, and i plugged it in, and it was working fine. Then i tried to slide it into the dashboard. It stopped working completely. Now, when i start the car, the gas, temp. gauges and the speedometer freak out, almost like the battery is dead, only it isn't, and the car starts fine. Also, when i open the door with the keys in the ignition, it doesn't beep like its supposed to. And, the dome light doesn't come on when the door opens (but when you switch it to the "on" position, it works, so it has power). I checked as many fuses as i could think of. I even tried putting the old radio back it, but got nothing. Any ideas...anyone??? How did i mess it up so bad????

Re: Radio trouble!!!

You blew fuses I'd bet.
Check both fuseboxes.

Re: Radio trouble!!!

Fuse 8 in the dash fusebox

#8 also supplies power to the MICU, which runs the dome lights,

and fuse 9 in the engine compartment box.

This also powers parts of the gauges and immobilizer.

Re: Radio trouble!!!

Check fuses with a test light. Not by pulling them out.

Or replace with known good ones.

Re: Radio trouble!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Fuse 9 in the engine compartment was blown. I was an idiot, and thought that when the manual said "Back Up" it meant it was a spare, so I didn't bother to check it. Everything's working perfectly!
