How to retrieve CEL codes???

All this talk of CEL but what tools are you using to retrieve the codes?

I think I read somewhere where you use a paper clip. Paper clip? Really?

Do anyone have pics of this or a How-to w/pics? I'm a visual guy. I need pics please.

TIA

Re: How to retrieve CEL codes???

You use a electronic plug in tool from your local auto store you buy for around 180 bucks and comes with a book you plug it in to your diagnostic port it gives you a code you look it up and that is your problem.

You can go to autozone, advanced, oriellys and places like that and tell them that you need a cel code read and they will get the code reader and read it and tell you whats wrong. You can also buy one to.

Thanks but to save money is there another way of doing it? What is this paperclip method that I've read about?

Kragen's is literally 100 yards from my house. I hope they'll do it for free.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
