amp question

amp question

i have pioneer speakers in the front and polk in the back. it used to have a amp and sub before i bought it. if i run a amp for louder music will it blow out my speakers if i dont use a sub? i have a 8oo watt kenwood 2 channel amp if it matters?

just do not feed the speakers more than their max RMS power handling. so if the speaker can take 60w, you should not be feeding it more than that. if the amp is rated higher, you need to turn the gain down. its pretty hard to blow aftermarket speakers tho unless youre really trying to.

just listen for distortion. in theory, if the speakers aren't distorting, then you're not hurting them.

okay there is a thick red wire from my battery to my trunk. a thin blue wire and wires hanging off my rear speakers. how do i hook it up to all 4 speakers

Thick red is for power to the amp. Then you will need a black thick gauge like the red one, I would see if the red has a marking on it to tell you what gauge it is. The blue is the amp turn from the radio. do you see any speaker wires back there? if not then you will need to run some speaker wires to the front of the car into the back of the main radio harness.
