Infinity Speaker Question

Hey guys! I'm getting ready to switch out my stock speakers (finally) after 78,xxx miles on them. Only one speaker is blown, which is the rear driver side. I have an Alpine HU and I just recently installed a 10 inch alpine sub w/ alpine amp.

My question is what infinity speakers will fit up front w/o modifications? I was looking at some infinity reference shallow mount speakers. The reason I'm going with these is because I have a friend that has a great hook up price on these. I noticed through reading on here and h-t that the reg reference speakers would need like a 1" spacer. So i was hoping these would just bolt right in w/o the need of a spacer.
Here's the link:

Oh and for the rears I'm going with reference too.

Re: Infinity Speaker Question

the shallow mounts should clear the door window without a spacer, but it wont sound as good as the full size with 1 inch spacer. i have no clearance issues with the full size and after cutting the plastic lip off the back of the door panel where the speaker goes. im glad i didnt go with shallow mounts. but if you have a sub, it prolly wont matter since most of the bass comes from the sub anyway.

thanks for the quick response gearbox!
as for sound quality i thought the stock speakers were decent to me lol but yeah I just want to replace all around since I'm going to be replacing the rear blown speaker anyways. and the 6x9 reference for the rears should drop in with no problem right?

Re: Infinity Speaker Question

also what would be better for the rear.. 2 way reference or 3 way reference? Sorry I'm not much of an audio feen. I got the amp free from my friend when he went back to chicago. I had subs laying around here at my house. The only thing I purchased was the amp kit.

Re: Infinity Speaker Question

im not sure about the rears fitting, i have a sedan with 6.5 inch. alot of 6x9 will not clear those metal trunk lid bars. in the rear, 2 or 3 way will prolly not matter.

Re: Infinity Speaker Question

If you have a sub alread I would go with a 2 way, otherwise even with a head unit the aftermarket speakers will distort

Re: Infinity Speaker Question

i put in Infinity Reference. the 6.5's will fit with a 3/4" spacer no problem. no cutting. no grinding. you'll need to drill mount holes though. see my sig.
