Electric Problem, Please Help

Ok so heres the thing. My lights seem to dim, the dash lights dim, and my cd player will shut off. It doesnt happen all the time, just seems to be random times while driving but more often when driving slower or stopped. It doesnt dim at times of high bass either because it will do it with the cd player at zero with the radio on a country station. I have an amp wired up running four aftermarket speakers, as well as a hardwired set of fog lights. I've had the amp and fogs hooked up since the start of the summer with no problems, but now that theres snow and its cold its been doing this. I also noticed today that i think ive burnt out a bulb in my gauge cluster cuz its very dim on the tach side above the 5-7 rpm range. Anyone know what might be going on?

how old is your battery? your lights will naturally dim a bit when the rpms drop to idle because the alternator isn't spinning as fast. is it worse when you have the stereo on?

no it actually seems worse when the radio is turned down to the min volume, my battery is only 2 years old, so it shouldnt be drained already should it? ive only had the amp hooked up since august.

Have you tried...

...disconnecting the fogs and/or the amp to see if the problem goes away?

I don't mean just turning them off, I mean physically disconnecting them from power....

batteries usually start to crap out on me every 2 yrs or so. id have it load tested at any auto store. always check the fluid level every few months and add distilled water to bring them to full.

Re: Electric Problem, Please Help

i had the OEM Honda battery in for 5 years before I changed it. even then it was still going strong. the aftermarket batteries have never done as well for me. a couple years max for aftermarket. OEM batteries, wiper blades, and shocks.......i'll give it Honda, they knew what they were doing. i still buy OEM for those. 110K miles on the original shocks and they're still good.
