my friend owns an 86 civic and had someone install a newer radio. the only problem is that the radio resets everytine you turn off the car. any one know this old trick?

What? the guy might not have put all the wires in the right place... i also have an 86 civic si... i installed the stereo myself... i'll see if i can get some pics of how the wiring should be... and to be honest with you right now my stereo is running strictly off the ground, live, and signal cables...

The accessory wire is wired to where 12v constant should be.

Vehicle wiring Wire harness to head unit

White/blue ---> Yellow (Constant)
Black ---> Black (Ground)
Yellow/red ---> Red (Accessory)
Red/black ---> Orange and/or Orange/white (Illumination)

The radio power is wired to the switched power source. The radio has no constant power source, so everytime you turn the car off, the radio will reset.
