Best low profiles for my Civic

Let me start by saying I’m new to learning about cars so please be kind. Looking to put new rims and low profiles on my 2000 Civic LX. I have 15x7 rims picked out, wondering if these are a good size and what low profile tires I could put on them would be. Thanks!

Re: Best low profiles for my Civic

I'd only go low profile if you're increasing rim size drastically. You'll want to keep overall outer diameter of the tire as close to OEM as possible to keep your speedometer and odometer as accurate as possible

Your 00 LX came with 185/65-14 tires stock, mounted on 14x5 45ET rims (putting this here for reference). If you're looking at 15x7's, the best match would be 205/50-15's

if you're a visual person, here's what they'll look like relative to each other (link to the calculator I use)

it's only a -1.9% difference, so when your speedometer indicates 60, you'll actually be going 59

If you want the low pro look, look at some bigger diameter rims. 205/50-16's or 205/40-17's would do fairly well

edit: kept changing my mind on suggested tire sizes for 15s. Finally landed on 205/50's for the low-pro ish look

Re: Best low profiles for my Civic

I guess I should mention.. If you can find some 215/50-15's, those would be the perfect size. Near zero speedometer error, a little bit more treadwidth to protect your rims a bit better from curbing. Last night, I couldn't find anything in 215/50-15 on discount tire's website
