Change in tire size for snow

Hello folks:

I have a 2010 with stock 195/65R15's on them and have a lead on a set of snows from a 2005 Accord that are 205/65R15 on rims. I know I would need to use hub rings but otherwise would they work (besides throwing the speedo off a bit)? Do you think going to a larger tire for snow is wise?

Appreciate your thoughts.

tread design makes the biggest difference. A crappy all season vs a good winter tire. I don't think anything bigger would be worth it if it would help at all. 205, maybe 215 is the widest you could go I think.

In sand you are supposed to lower tire pressure, what about snow?

Generally unless you are trying to float over snow, you want a skinny tire. That's why the old bugs did so well.

If there is a lot of snow, I will drop my tire pressure to 20 but that was when I had my Jeep and 35's. Haven't tried with the Honda yet. Haven't had enough snow to worry about.

Dropping the pressure can help, but never do it if you are running chains. You need full pressure to keep them tight.
