Buying Tires

I purchased All Season Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires back in Jan 09. They were I believe rated for 65,000 Km's which I have reached and there is spider cracking between the threads. My question is these tires cost me approx $150.00 each at the time. If I buy a lower priced tire does it make a big difference with there lifespan. Of course driving surfaces; tire pressure etc impact this so do cheap tires at a local walmart last that much less than expensive tires from a tire store if tire pressures are properly checked and most driving is on paved roads. To sum it up: Do you get a better tire because it costs more? Thanks for any help, looking to be more knowledgeable when purchasing tires.

Re: Buying Tires

I'm done with expensive tires!!! Its just a name, to me they don't last as long. I have ran some Sunny's that lasted me 5 years and they still had lots of life left but I sold me rims. I'm resently running Handcooks. If its an off brand tire your getting just make sure you get an all season tire.

Re: Buying Tires

if you want longevity, buy some train tires, they made of steel.
if you believe the tread wear markings, use them as reference, but is you slack on maintenace expect less longevity from tires. they part of maintenace, you need to change them when they wear, but when you want them to be safe, you want them to grip. (funny, no? they grip, they wear )
