Re: Got new wheels!

All seasons in socal, I'm surprised you're not looking at summers. I live in Vancouver, where it's almost always cold and wet, I use summers march-november without difficulty and our climate is worse than yours.

I'd recommend Nexen N3000 or Yoko S-drives.

Re: Got new wheels!

Agreed, i would look for some sort of performance tire,(summer). even when it rains its not that bad for you to need all season tires. Might be cheaper tho if money is an issue. As for the repair, how bad is it? you can actually fix some curb rash your self, there are a few ways to do it..if its more like a dent then a shop should do it.

Re: Got new wheels!

if all else fails, a new one is barely over $100.. I'm rocking the same rims in 17x7's and recently had to replace one

come to think of it, my full size spare is a 16x7 version.. lol

edit:
man.. reading > me

somehow missed the fact that it's just curb rash. In that case, I wouldn't bother replacing it.. lol

Re: Got new wheels!

maybe I lied a little bit. I thought I got them for cheaper.. lol. I got my replacement for $185 shipped

and I think those lug nuts should work. However, I don't know how much I trust ebay lug nuts.. but that's just me.

Re: Got new wheels!

I've used the equivalent of those lug nuts, they sucked. The alloy used to make them is so cheap they rusted like crazy and the threads on them only held up to being torqued a couple times.

I bought Mcgards to replace them, great quality lugs from the same company Honda uses to manufacture OEM lugs. I think it was $65 for 16, which was a steal for the quality considering most good ones run over $100.

Re: Got new wheels!

im about to get me some skunk2 forged lug nuts cuz my $40 ebay ones are all rusted and the caps are popping off of them...i dont remember the brand but if your putting them on once and dont plan on taking them off frequently (once every 2 months or so) id say go for it but be careful torqing them. AND USE A TORQUE WRENCH. <--- the best tool imo for lug nuts

Re: Got new wheels!

Those are a bit better, but still not great.

The problem is those are very soft aluminium lugs, they can only be torqued a few times before stripping. If you plan on taking off your wheels frequently to do work, I really encourage you to spend the extra $50-100 on good lugs or get Mcgards. If you will take them off once a year, get those ones.

Re: Got new wheels!

Alright guys I'll take your word for it ! I'll get the Mcgards, I will more than likely only take the tires off 2-3 times for brakes and maybe to rotate.

Re: Got new wheels!

I ran with muteki open-ended spline lugs for a long *** time.. Did me great. Only reason I changed 'em is because I wanted some anodized blue extended lug nuts XD

Re: Got new wheels!

Kyokugen make a good heptagonal, lighter weight, forged steel open lugnut. I've been running the same set for almost 8 years now.
