No brakes!

I have a 98 civic dx hatch and one day all of the sudden the brake pedal went to the floor and I had to use the e-brake to stop. I have replaced the master cylinder twice, proportioning valve, pads all the way around, and bled the brakes several times. There are no leaks anywhere in the system. When i push the pedal i can hear something that sounds like air leaking, and sometimes when i drive it it will eventually slow down if I pump the hell out of the brakes. Perhaps the booster is bad? How would a person go about testing that? At this point any help would be excelent.

Re: No brakes!

It could be your brake booster but it could also be the one way check valve that keeps the pressure built up in the lines when breaking. It's the silver plastic pieace right on top of the booster and master cylinder held in by a 2 way hook on the firewall. I would replace that first since it's alot cheaper and see if it helps you out. It could also be a leaking brake line releasing pressure / brake fluid when you brake or even a vacuum leak somewhere in the line. A person should always start with the cheapest fix first before doing the more expensive ones. With my luck it's always the keeper fixes that break and I do the complete opposite and fix the most expensive. BUT SILLY ME! LOL

Let me know what happens.
