Soooo...

soooo ummm im just wondering

if i get 17" wheels with 225/45/17 tires would i get that "dropped" look without really being dropped?

would i need to upgrade any suspension at all?

im just wondering because i dont want to drop due to road conditions but i hate wheel gap!!!

mkkuntz8 is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Soooo...

When you buy new wheels you want to get tires with dimensions so that the overall diameter is the same as stock. This way your mileage and speedometer isnt inaccurate. You can get larger tires to lessen the gap but then it wont be accurate...and if your diameter is a certain % off it can cause brake problems

Re: Soooo...

It won't give you that dropped look.

I was dropped on tein s-tech's and I drove it up the east coast (Charleston, SC to Saratoga Springs, NY) and throughout an upstate NY winter with no problems. A 1.3/1.4" drop isn't terribly low... Just sayin..

Re: Soooo...

Wheel gap is non-existent. I have 225/45/17's, stock height. Looked like I was goin 4 wheelin. lol. Put deep skirts and a lip kit on and it looks fine, several people have asked if it's been lowered. Definitely get a camber kit AND an alignment unless you wanna burn thru back tires about every 2 months.

lol. Yeah. 2 weeks and 2 tickets later and I learned to go "45" instead of "60". lol. When I bought the car it had 185/40/17's and was 10mph off.

Re: Soooo...

I was able to get away with s-techs on stock shocks for a while.. Until I saved enough for tokico blues.. Just sayin.. The ride was still nice and firm by the time I swapped the struts out..

w..t.f..? 185/40..? The previous owner only cared about having that uber low-pro look, huh.. jeebus..

edit: your speedometer might be off also.. It should only really be off by about 2 mph (indicated is 2mph slower than actual) with the 225/45's..

Yeah. They looked tiny. 3-4 inches of gap. That's why I put wider, taller tires on. Then it looked like it was 4 wheelin so I put on lips and skirts.

Re: Soooo...

I sold them to a friend I worked with that had an 02 Sedan with blown shocks. Hooked him up for $350 for the spring/strut setup.

That was 5 years ago.. haha

Re: Soooo...

lets see.. not sure how long, but this will give you an idea of how long I rode without buying the struts

Installed the s-techs right probably a month before I left for Navy boot camp, my dad put 10,000 miles on it while I was in boot camp, we drove it from Vegas to Charleston, South Carolina (where my school was at), my car was with me while I was stationed there from May 04 to November 04, drove it to upstate NY for another school, swapped in the blues the first week of January.

Although I never had the blown strut bounciness, the ride felt a whole lot better after I swapped in the blues.

edit: ok.. so maybe it came out to 14 months.. lol.. If you don't get the struts right away, I'd recommend that as the next thing you plan on getting. As far as ebay shopping, especially for suspension components, I'd be picky as ****.

Re: Soooo...

ohhh snap lol yeah i hardly drive 3000 miles every 5 months so maybe i'll be ok with just the springs till i can afford the blues (i commute by train from long island to Manhattan to go to school during the year)

yeah ebay could be sketchy but i already found online that some store a few towns away has the tein springs and now im just going to have to go find the blues somewhere if im already going to pay $300 something for it im not gonna want to pay shipping lol

soo tein s-techs and camber kit in a few months, blues can deffinatly wait then THANKS you made me feel better lol
