Wheel Locks

Does anyone know how I can get a replacement wheel lock key? I believe the place that replaced my tires lost it and with the need for new brakes, I am worried I will not be able to get my tires off

Is there another way to get the lugs off without the key??

Re: Wheel Locks

its usually cheaper to buy a new set of lug nuts. what kind of wheel lock is it? they sell kits on ebay with many different keys inside, but shops have ways of getting any type of lug nut off, except they will be ruined and need replacing.

Re: Wheel Locks

its amazing. the more you tell a shop NOT to use an impact on the locking wheel nuts, the more it makes them want to do it lol. im on my second aftermarket wheel key cause various shops managed to nearly strip mine out completely. you would think in this day and age, people would know to use a hand wrench for the wheel lug nuts and turque them properly! instead of making it as tight as possible so that even with a 3 ft breaker bar you are struggling to loosen them. this is after i tell the shop what the torque is for the wheels. if they cant even follow a simple instruction, theres no way im going back again.

Re: Wheel Locks

Yea, they impacted it beyond use, the inside pattern was cracked and pieces were missing. Dealerships blow dick, they stripped out my valve cover bolt too. I wont know what other damage they did until I replace the next timing belt which is another 80k miles. I dont think I am picky, but I look over the work as best as I can, I can imagine how many old people who bring their cars to dealerships and get shitty service. /end rant

Re: Wheel Locks

you ALWAYS need to look over work even at the best shops. i found dipstick not pushed in all the way, pcv valve hanging out of the engine on its hose, and some bolts forgot to tighten. and a few cables not pushed back to their holders.
