Cool replacing pads & rotors on 2006 - any tips

Hello all

Wow - there is inforamtion overload on this forum - good stuff and some of it confusing

I need to replace the rotors ( I know these can be cut - turned but hey time is Money ) and pads on a 2006 civic

First question - I have the parts and want to make sure I have the correct tool for removing the Caliper "pins" from what I have read this is a 12 mm allen - correct ?

Second - there are comments on disconnecting ABS before starting to compress the caliper - true or false -? what if you do not ?

Third question - software updates for "warped rotors" if I am replacing these is this an issue ? Do you need to "calibrate" to new rotors

Always been a "back yard mechanic" mostly on Domestic -Civic is new for me any help / clarification is appreciatd

Regards and Thanks

Paul

Getting your rotors turned is usually worth it. You dont need to calibrate anything on them. If they are too thin the man at the shop will tell you. Aftermarkets are cheap so not many people turn rotors anymore.

Don't turn your rotors they will just warp again. with less metal on the rotor they will heat up faster and warp faster.

Get the EBC slotted rotors form www.horsepowerfreaks, and a set of OEM pads.
And make sure to lube the slide pins so they move freely.

If they never warped to begging with it will be fine. Its better to turn OEM rotors then to buy cheap China made rotors, otherwise they are quite expensive.
