05 LX Special Edition Warped Rotors???

I have an '05 LXSE sedan w/ stock wheels and tires. Replaced the rotors and pads at about 40,000 miles. Within 4-5000 miles the new rotors started warping so I returned them to Autozone and went and had the originals turned. Replaced those and all was great until about 4-5000 miles later and they are starting to warp again. I'm now at about 50,000 miles and considering the Brembo blanks and Hawk HPS pads as a replacement. I drive mostly hwy at 70-75 mph. Any guesses as to what is causing the warpage other than stock is not that great. Thanks.

bent hubs( have more than .003" runout in the hub), have the rotors machined on the car. or index the rotor to the hub to less than .003" of runout on the rotor surface

Do you torque your wheels to 80ft/lb? Or just jump on the tire iron until it's super tight?

Tire iron. Obviously I am going to have to start using a torque wrench. I didn't know that would have an effect.I Don't know if the pads from autozone are having an effect too. I have noticed that when I replaced the pads I have a lot more brake dust on my wheels than with the original Honda ones. I think I may order the Brembo blanks and Hawk HPS pads this week and see if that makes the difference.

even with new rotors and pads its likely that the pulsation will return unless you index the rotor to .003" or less runout

Re: 05 LX Special Edition Warped Rotors???

I think I am going to try the Brembo blanks and Hawk pads. I was going to get a Craftsman torque wrench. Is 1/2" better that a 3?8". From what I read 80 ft/lb is what I should torque the nuts. What shoul the caliper bolts be torqued at? Thanks for all the help.

In that thread Grey found his to be ~25-30Ft/lb.

I've never had to index hubs to rotors. I suppose it could be a factor. Have you ever smacked a curb that might bend suspension parts?

Re: 05 LX Special Edition Warped Rotors???

maybe you are too hard on the brakes. i almost never use brakes to stop above 40mph, and all ive done is replace the pads at 20k miles. im at 70k now and still havent changed anything else.

Re: 05 LX Special Edition Warped Rotors???

Never hit a curb or anything that would throw it out. Still drives straight and true like it was new. If anything I baby my brakes. I talked to a friend today who is a mechanic and the first thing he asked me was if I used a torque wrench. He said 9 times out of ten that can cause it..

Re: 05 LX Special Edition Warped Rotors???

oh yeah forgot about that. if lug nuts are different tightness, that equals instant warped rotors. they should all be around 80 ft/lbs
