GAS MILEAGE and RIM SIZE

I found it interesting that when I went from big wheels to small wheels, the MPG didnt change much...

2001 Civic EX
Sedan

A/C on
399.4 miles on (1) tank of gas
11.51 gallons to fill up that tank
-----------------------------------
34.7002 MPG

2001 Civic EX
Sedan
5-speed
15" wheels
A/C on
378.8 miles on (1) tank of gas
10.805 gallons to fill up that tank
-----------------------------------
35.0578 MPG

Re: GAS MILEAGE and RIM SIZE

^ where did it say he let his tank run dry? We have a 13 Gallon Tank (50L).

Anyways,

What tire size were you running? In comparison to stock, what was the % difference of the diameter?

Also depends how heavy your 19s were...

So many variables to determining MPG

Re: GAS MILEAGE and RIM SIZE

should it change? if you went on the highway mostly, then you wont see much change since the car only has to keep going. or maybe your odometer is screwed up lol

Re: GAS MILEAGE and RIM SIZE

awesome, I was looking at some new 17"'s and wasn't sure if it would kill my gas mileage, but obviously not by much since I do all highway driving usually and you had 19"'s! I could live with 34 mpg.. my STI was getting me 19 lol.

Re: GAS MILEAGE and RIM SIZE

kills acceleration the most, having larger rims. the weight does too. try and get forged rims.

put in your tire sizes and check this out. Different sizes different speed readin different miles traveled on your odometer.

Need to have your odometer recalibrated.
