Hypothetically speaking

If one were having problems with their civic and the shop gave it back a week later in the same condition it was in when you took it there, should there be a substantial bill? The shop has a very good reputation. The problems ended up being bad spark plugs. Basically, the cost to fix the car averaged out to $300 per plug.

Re: Hypothetically speaking

and may or may not be prorated to partial hours, depending on the shop. Not to mention if there were troubleshooting or diagnostic fees. I'd venture a guess that shop labor fees are $80-120/hr. Did they give you an itemized invoice with notes?

I will say, however, $1200 sounds steep for essentially 4 spark plugs

They didn't change the plugs. The car was running no better when I got it back than it was before they worked on it. I realized the spark plugs hadn't been changed out during this ordeal. I had someone else pick up the new plugs and they got the wrong kind. But it fired right up and I knew something finally made a difference. Bought ngk plugs the next morning and so far, so good.

The shop I will use when it does this again in six weeks told me that they wouldn't have charged a dime if they gave it back no better than it was before.
