This will sound weird to the performance oriented people.
I would like to haul a kayak on my ep3. I don't want to damage or drill the roof. Does anyone know of a product that will do this?
Maybe something with large suction cups, I don't know.
I have also thought of a light weight trailer, I could fab up a hitch, it would have to go around the bumper, I will not cut the bumper plastic.
Any ideas ?

There are roof rack options that don't drill into the roof. Go to a store that sells that sort of thing and get their oipinion. Can also check amazon, and the honda dealer may have something as well

Yakima and Thule are the big roof rack companies. Check out their websites they might have product finder based off the car. Or check out local kayak place and ask them. I would do a roof rack over a trailer unless you are concerned about having to lift them up onto the roof.

Thank you, I can't make myself spend 400 on a roof rack. I do like yakima with the extenders. It is just too much. I am a welder so a hitch and trailer is no big deal, uglier but cheaper.

Things happen, but I still own my ep3, I did put a receiver hitch, it works great !
My question is the transmission, I haul a couple hundred pounds at most, so I might be towing 500 lbs. I suppose the trans will be fine??
What does the forum say?

Google says all 7th gen Civics are rated for 1,100 lbs towing. The transmission will be fine.

Even with the car at max load capacity (probably like 850 lbs) you can still safely tow an additional 1,100 lbs. You would have poor acceleration but it's not going to hurt anything.
