Need helpwith rear control arms

I changed out the lower control arm already, but the upper control arm i have isnt as thick where you bolt it to the frame, and as a result the bolts dont snug up and tighten all the way. Could i just shim it to fill the gap?

Shorter grade 8 bolts would be a better idea instead of shims.
Aftermarket parts? Were they the cheapest option?

Shim as in use a galanized washer from Home Depot? Should be okay, just don’t start eyeballing those lag bolts.

Re: Need helpwith rear control arms

The new control arms had been bought by the previous owner, the lower ones fit and were good but these upper ones seem a little small. Maybe ill look into getting a shorter bolt.... or maybe just cut them. im also curious about the rear lower ball joints (dunno what theyre called) if you can punch them out and put new ones in or if you have to buy the whole arm. Its the lower big one the drum brakes and suspension are all fastened to. Has a similar rubber gasket as the upper control arm just bigger.... so many questions.... gah..
