Um, was it painted with watercolors or something?
Ask the painter how long it needs to stay dry.

Re: New paint - precautions ?
anyways i asked here becoz he told me i could drive it off right away plus i can wax the car with in 2 weeks and can wash it right away .. i think that too good to be true and i dont think i should do all that ... thats why i wanted more real opinions
Re: New paint - precautions ?
The shop should have allowed enough time for it to cure before they gave it back to you. If its a reputable shop you should be ok. The clear coat will protect the paint.

Re: New paint - precautions ?
Should be a fast drying paint, if it was just chips and scuffs then you should still be good, most touch ups dry within a few hours.
Re: New paint - precautions ?
I would wait longer than 2 weeks before waxing it but rain or washing it should be fine. Always use a detergent designed for cars unless you are stripping off old wax, then use Dawn.
Re: New paint - precautions ?
You should let paint sit for 24hrs indoors in dry conditions before it even goes outside. Especially if its a front bumper or hood beacuse they take the most impact from rocks etc. If it's not given time to cure when rocks start dinging the front end the paint will begin to chip off in large chunks. This happens less in the rear but it will eventually flake off.

To be honest, I don't have a good feeling about this whole thing. Painting is all about the prep work and bumpers require special prep because they flex more than body panels.

I would wait until he is back in town and ask him. I can not think of anything oily that is normally sprayed as part of a paint job. Normally the only thing done after painting is polishing but that does not sound like what you are talking about. If it really is just some kind of oil I would suggest Dawn which is good at cutting oil and grease and won't hurt the paint.

That to me looks like a shotty paint job , wether it be the wrong paint or not enough paint or even wrong clearcoat . buffing/polishing will blend some things but im not to sure about that, id be after him to make it right.
Re: New paint - precautions ?
But not to be mistaken that yellow part is not THE REPAINTED PART... THE RED ONE IS .. Yellow one is just that he drip oil all over my hood to protect it from rain.. he didnt do any paint job within yellow part
Re: New paint - precautions ?
yea I see were the problem is and by the picture it looks like it was the complete wrong shade of silver , buffing it could make it less noticable, wouldnt hurt it anymore. but I think you will always see it.. do you know if he used primer basecoat andd clearcoat or was it a rattle can ?
*if you had a random orbital buffer or even by hand you could try and work on a corner were the new meets the old and see if you can get them to match

Re: New paint - precautions ?
he said to polish it after when the paint gets old and the surface will be fine
How much is it gonna cost to have a real body&paint shop fix this mess?
