auto trany harm from dropping to "2"?
hi all =), i'm one of those poor souls who bought an auto 2002 ex cause it was the best deal i could find at the time... now i drive it like the stick i wish i had. at 80km i drop form D to 2. immediately my revs shoot from 3000/4000 to 5500/6000rpm, the second stage of vtec kicks in and the car shoots from 80 to 120km (80mph). this only works if i'm steady at 80 then drop, not if i'm going from 0-120km. i know most drivers don't do this and the car probably isn't designed for it. but will any major damage occur from this? side note i've done it maybe 80 times already so if anyone wants to try it remember to shift to d3 before it redlines at 6500rpm/120km/80mph.

yeah eventually you will blow up the trans changing gears at high rpm. downshifting should be avoided when possible, esp with an auto trans that has defective 2nd clutch already. just drive it like an auto til you can afford the manual you want.

Yes it will eventually harm the tranni and it will start slipping. Then you will have to pay a crap loud of money to get it rebuilt or buy another one. Keep the manual gear shifting to the manual cars. The 1, 2, d3, d4 or however it is in your car is meant for like amybe going up a big hill or something like a driveway. You put it down in low gear to make it up the hill or whatever else use you would need for like that. Its not there for racing.
