MAINT. REQ'D light flashes...never noticed it before, what could be wrong??
When i turn my car on and all the lights come on then go off, the yellow Maintenance Required light stays on and flashes about 8-10 times before it goes off as well. My stepfather thought it was cause the mileage tracker thing (don't you love my terminology) needed to be reset after my last oil change, and he messed around with it and said "OK it should have stopped now" but the next time i got in my car it still did it. Car isn't leaking anything....no unusual noises... i never noticed it blinking the light before during the first 3 months i owned the car. only in the past month have i noticed the light. What gives??? You have around 10,000 miles right???
Its just a reminder to "take your car back to the dealer" all of them do this.
Soon the light will just stay on!!
Look in your car manuel.... it tells you how to turn it off, or you can take it back to the dealer and have them charge you an arm and a leg to turn it off

ohhhh...yeah it must have been around 8500 miles that it started. if not before that. maybe my dealer set it for sooner? can they do that? either way...thanks guys, at least i can stop worrying that something's wrong and my car is gonna spontaneously combust.

Dont stress people...if you've had service and the light is still on there is an easy way to make it not come on till the next period....when you turn on the car just hold the Odometer button and turn the key to the car on...and presto the light is gone peeps...

oh AWESOME. yeah you guys were right, it was cause last time i went to good old jiffy lube they must not have reset it...i didn't know that's what that was for. duh. but sure enough, as you warned me, at 10k miles- which i hit last week- it stopped merely flashing and just came on and stayed on. even though i now know there's nothing wrong with my car, that light is getting on my nerves. will try the odometer button trick tomorrow... much love
<< my car started doing that at 8500 miles its just to let you know that you need to service it @ 10,000 or thata atleast what the guy at the dealership said >>
i had the same thing here, the damn dealer charged $80 and most of the stuff i didnt even want done. they changed my oil even though i had it done 1000 miles earlier, and they rotated my tires when i told them not to because i had just done it myself when i took off my summer rims; so that i had the tires with the most tread on the front. but since they wouldnt take any $ off the price for all the stuff that i didnt want i guess its okay. but i hate the dealer anyway and will never have service done there again'

1) turn off the engine
