1990 Civic NO START NO SPARK
1990 Civic NO START NO SPARK
not getting spark to my D16Z6 that is swapped in my 90 sedan. also not getting power at all to the main relay, I have ran a wire supplying power to the battery wire going to the relay, I get power at the wire obviously but still no power to the other things on the relay like ignition and fuel pump. am I doing something wrong?

Sounds like you need some good wiring diagrams to see where that main relay gets power AND ground from and what operates the main relay.
Is the ECM able to operate the relay, or not?
Has this engine swap run and drove, or is this a new swap?
Ground wires on the thermostat housing?

Ground wires on thermostat housing are good, this was a daily driver for a good 4 or 5 months then 1 day it just quit on me,
re checking the relay and now it does have power to the relay but still nothing works like the fuel pump or the ignition

Re: 1990 Civic NO START NO SPARK
looking at a wire diagram for 1990 DX/LX sedan and hatchback pgmfi main relay....If I grabbed the wrong diagram or it doesn't match your car let me know and tell more info about your car.
Dash fuse# 2 and 14
Engine compartment fuse# 37
At the main relay: When the key is turned on you should see battery power on
black/yellow (fuse 14)
yellow/white (fuse 37)
and ONE of the yellow/black wires --- but not the other --until the engine is cranking. (fuse 2 is connected to the starter circuit, only hot while cranking)
ECM has to ground the green/black wire on the main relay to turn on the fuel pump (the other yellow/black wire). If it's not grounding that green/black wire for some reason the relay will not turn on the pump.
Is the ECM for the 1990 or some other year?
Check all grounds for the ECM before condemning it. It cannot supply grounds to something if its grounds are missing/bad/weak/high resistance.
Find someone with a good ECM you can swap to verify yours is good or bad.
Open the ECM and look for signs of leaking capacitors and circuit board damage?

ill be sure to check back with it tomorrow, there are no fuses under the hood, this is my first Honda so I really don't know what is factory and what came with the d16 swap, the main ecu is under the glove box, and there is a small fuse block there with some relays, im about to just look for a local guy that knows Hondas and have them come check it out, the majority of connections are connected using electrical tape, im about thinking it needs a whole new wiring harness. sucks for sure

Re: 1990 Civic NO START NO SPARK
just remembered the 15 amp fuse second down on mine was blown, that's the ECU fuse I looked at it online, I put a 30 amp in place of it because its all I had at the time, do I need to put a 15 amp back or is a 30 ok?

Re: 1990 Civic NO START NO SPARK
If it's not repeatedly blowing a 15A fuse I'd leave a 15 in it.
If it's repeatedly blowing a 15, then you need to track down the short.
If you stick a 30 in and it has small wires in the circuit, you could melt stuff and cause a fire before the larger fuse blows.

15 is what is supposed to be in it?

ok ill be putting a 15 amp back in it tomorrow and go from there. that could be my whole issue, at least im hoping lmao
thank you for your help!
