power inconsistencies
what's up civic forums. I was just wondering what is causing my car's power inconsistency and what can fix it. Ever since I bought my car (2013) I have baby'd it and took care of it as much as the previous owner did. Aesthetically, the car has minor dents but mechanically, the engine is at 85% condition I would say considering it is a 20 year old car. However there is no major problems with the engine aside from what I noticed, a inconsistent feel of acceleration or power. There would be times from a full stop my car would run 1st through 3rd gear effortlessly but there would also be times when I have to shift 1st to 2nd very quick then shift to 3rd. Making 2nd gear as thought it was my 1st gear because my 1st would feel like it has to change gear already. It is annoying because I have to want to pay attention to the car more than what's needed for driving a stick shift. LOL though I have a lot of patience it's just that I wish it could have more power or torque so to speak, if that power is even the problem here to begin with. My theory would be the intake, I have a generic one, and I think the filter has to be changed. I remember driving the car with it's stock filter and 1st gear through 3rd felt smoother and fast. like the engine is breathing well and not having to rev it higher than 3k. Should I buy a branded one like aem? or what do you all think this is? Thanks cf peeps.
Re: power inconsistencies
No, i don't think i do. But if this is the symptoms of a misfire, how come my idle seems to e fine. Car is running smooth it's just it feels like i am losing power in the lower rpm sometimes
If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: power inconsistencies
Misfire can happen under other conditions.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a misfire problem either.
