Hi,
This is my first post on a Honda forum so here goes.....
I have just replaced the head gasket and those hard to get at o-rings at each end of the thermostat tube that runs along the back of the engine block on my 1991 ED Civic 5 speed hatch .
The 1500cc engine is a D15B4 Australian delivery with dual CV carbs, we have had the car since 2006 and this is the first lot of major maintenance performed since we bought it. The ED is very reliable and runs about 6.5L/100 kms or about 42MPG so even though it is nearing classic as far as a Japanese car is concerned cannot justify selling it.
Our Civic is stock and goes surprisingly well for what it is.
Anyway as I pulled the cylinder head off a few weeks ago I managed to break the intake coolant switch that about 4 vacuum lines connect to. The switch is located at the left side of the intake looking from the front of the engine and screws directly into a 3/8NPT port. The head of the switch is plastic with four hose tails (the bit that broke off) the base is brass with what looks like a thermal sensor that sits in the engine coolant.
Not sure what the vaccum switch does but have noticed the engine now idles a bit rough since starting it up today.
Anyone know where I could buy a new switch? Ebay? Honda specialist??
Thanks Dave Tasmania Australia

I think you will need to find a dealer down there, or an Aussie dealer website with a catalog look up, or an identical donor car to steal parts from.

Re: ED D15B4 intake coolant switch help!
If anyone knows the part number fo the switch please post, I have found two switches from donor cars in the last 6 months. Both were cracked and leaked when they arrived by post. ED still running well but idles rough once it warms up. Need the switch to connect all the vac tubes to from the CV carbs. cheers dave
