Question 94 civic ex won't start

I have a 94 honda civic ex, that will not start. It was running tuesday, parked it after a short trip to the store, wednesday morning it wont start. It turns over but will not catch. Fuel pump comes on and has fuel at the rail. Distributor swapped, plugs replaced, main relay tested and swapped with one from running car. Ecu swapped with one from running car, it worked in other car so put back in mine and still nothing. Fuses test good. What could it be?

Sounds like the crankshaft or camshaft position senor has died and isn't allowing the car to start.

Re: 94 civic ex won't start

As for the crank position sensor the 94 civic incorporates it in the Distributor the following is the test. it has been completed and the ECU was tested with a known good one. Still no start. Completely frustrated now.

• Disconnect the 8pin connector from the distributor
• Measure the resistance between sensor terminals B & F (ECU terminals B15 BLU/GRN wire & B16 BLU/YEL wire)
• If the resistance is not between 350Ω & 700Ω replace the distributor.
• If the resistance is between 350Ω & 700Ω - Check for continuity to body ground on both B & F terminals.
• Does continuity exist
Yes - replace distributor
No
• Test the ECU

Did you check to see if the timing belt is still turning the cam? You can either take the dist cap off and watch the rotor button to see if it spins while someone cranks the engine over or take the upper timing cover off and see if it spins there. make sure to crank the engine over though. Just because the belt has tension does not mean it is good. sometimes the teeth come off the belt and visually the belt looks ok from the top
