AC Blower Upgrade
AC Blower Upgrade
Has anyone upgraded or "souped up" the AC blower on their car? I have an '89 Civic Hatchback with the D15b2 motor. The AC blower is drastically under powered. Theres nothing wrong with it, I know that for a fact. Its just not strong enough for my liking. I dont care about the level of custom work thats involved. I need something stronger. I'm wondering if theres a kit or a good DIY write up. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Re: AC Blower Upgrade
see if you can take out the motor and match it with something "newer" at the auto store. i know there is quite a bit of overlap with very similar parts for hondas. you prolly have to hardwire it or find a matching connector, but i bet you could find a new version (preferably radial cone fan) that would fit. on newer cars, you can just remove the filters for more flow, and close one or more vents that you dont use to boost the flow. you could also look for a TYC brand replacement for your car, which blows a bit harder than oem. but remember that if you are blowing air faster, it will not have as much chance to heat up or cool down when you have the heat or a/c on.
