95 dx coupe

Im normally on the 7th gen forums for myself but I picked up a 95 dx auto about a week ago for my woman and i've just started to put some work in. If any of you guys/girls know of some common problems with these cars Please let me know, preventative maintenance is always easier.

So far I've put in new spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor.Just picked up everything for trans fluid and oil/filter change to do tomorrow. Not throwin any codes just want to get her runnin smooth. Its got about 140k miles, fuel filter and power steering fluid are next.

I'd appreciate any input!

Re: 95 dx coupe

Done with the basics now... Steering still feels a bit stiff and i get a shimmy shake at higher speeds. Tie rods dont have play as far as i can tell, no poping noises or anything during turns so that should eliminate cv joint right? No tears/rips in the boot either. Anyone know some ways to check for other issues...tryin to diagnose from home. Sorry for the limited info.

Re: 95 dx coupe

Looks like this has also become my "project monkey" car thread...replaced sec of the exhaust midpipe today cause it had a nice hole and installed new mounting clips for the rear bumper as it was sagging and rattling.

Anyway, now with all that noise gone I can now hear multiple popping sounds when making sharp turns at low speeds. With a little effort I can get some play pushing in on the right and left of the wheels when on jacks. No noise when im turning at higher speeds or going over bumps, having stiffer steering though. Everything looks ok, no cracks or tears in boots. Again any help would be appreciated.

Unless you know the timing belt was just replaced you need to change it the water pump and the cam/crank seals or it will eventually leave you stranded

Re: 95 dx coupe

Timing belt/water pump and seals were done already so im good like that. Thanks for the response though...only 200+ views before one haha.

So after hours of searching this site and many others and doing a lot of tests Im sure my problem is right side CV axle. I picked up the whole CV shaft for the passenger side today... now Im out to the garage with DIY instructions in hand. First time doin this so Im prepared for a few hours of fun.

Re: 95 dx coupe

Cursed my way through it but got her done, took about 2 1/2 hours, not that bad for my first time...i think anyway. knocking is gone

Picked up some all seasons to get mounted tomorrow- Im thinking that will solve my shimmy as the ones on now are worn and bit uneven too. If that works out I'm pretty much done.
