1994 Engine Light Code/ Starting Prob.
1994 Engine Light Code/ Starting Prob.
I put a paper clip in the 2 wire connector, turned the key to on and got a 6 quick and a 9 quick code. There isnt a code 69 so im not sure if it means 15 or 69. PS my 94 honda civic ex doesnt always start up right away, it will crank and want to turn over but it wont until i press in the gas and she starts right up. and on occasions right after it starts i put it into drvie, and then press the gas and the car sounds like its gona quiet running on me. this has be going on a quiet a while. and my timing is lined up and im getting spark and im getting fuel at after the fuel filter.
Thanks, Blaino

ok im dumb, so i did have an overheating problem but i fixed that so now i have a code 9 which is the cylinder sensor. not sure what that is tho. and sometimes the car wants to turn over but doesnt, so i press in gas and it fires right up.
Thanks if anyone can help!

Re: 1994 Engine Light Code/ Starting Prob.
i checked out that forum but it didnt really help as my car starts fine when it is cool but after driving it for 14+ miles, then trying to start it again, the car wont turn over. It cranks and a few times it will almost turn over but wont. Iv have spark and fuel and iv checked my timing. any ideas any one? this problem is very annoying, thanks
Re: 1994 Engine Light Code/ Starting Prob.
For the no-start condition: Try holding the accelerator pedal all the way down (this tells the ECU to turn off the injectors) then let up immediately when it starts. 4 cylinder engines sometimes tend to hold residual fuel in the cylinders when driven short distances, causing a no-start/hard-start condition.
Code 9 is the TDC sensor, which is in the distributor housing itself. Replace the distributor housing. May want to just replace the whole distributor if the cap and rotor are shot.

ok so i replaced the distributor, rotor, and cap. the engine light is gone. so i drove about 10 miles to the store and when i started the car it started but was at very low idle and when i pressed on the gas it felt like it wanted to cut off.
Re: 1994 Engine Light Code/ Starting Prob.
my timing is fine and i dont think its my idle, i drove 14 miles to my gf house. turned off the car, came back out 5 min later and car wouldnt turn over. its almost like something is getting hot and not working. i dont know where to start trouble shoting. this is driving me crazy
Re: 1994 Engine Light Code/ Starting Prob.
car cranks, has spark, fuel pump is good, the check engine light stays on and doesn't turn off while the ignition is in the on position. i got it to start up 3 times by messing around with the fuse panel, knocking on it( i saw it somewhere online and it worked) drove it around it was fine, everything was pointing to the main relay..changes it..and nothing changed only hear one click from the relay and check engine light never turns off. checked fuses. car still won't start HELP!
