Need some verification please!!!
Need some verification please!!!
So I just bought my first Civic, a 93 Coupe EX. Also, to be up front I don't know much about Honda's engines. The guy I bought it from did nothing to the car and knew nothing about them, but the previous owner attempted to mod the car and did everything the cheap way i.e. he lowered the car by cutting the springs
so I have to go behind him and fix everything he did the right way. But that's besides the point.
It has a b16a engine swap, and the guy I bought it from was told by the previous owner it was from a 2000 Integra Si...but I'm still learning and I wondered if anyone could verify the engine that was stock to them or tell me where I can find some nomenclature on the engine itself to see what exactly I have.
Thanks.

Re: Need some verification please!!!
Not at all. I've got probably a good $1500 of cleanup work to fix what the people who owned the car before me did to it. So I looked on the engine and it says B16A with a serial number underneath it. I'm assuming that's the first generation B16A engine?
Re: Need some verification please!!!
Sweet. You've got a b-series engine. Definitely a swap. Here's a little more info for ya. Enjoy!

try to get some manual if you plan on doing your own work. Since it's a swap, it could be different in some points, though.
Haynes - any autoshop
Helms - expensive but worth every penny.

Correction, it's a DX.
Since driving it for the past few days, I've realized that the car wasn't tuned to run the engine in it after the swap so it's not running like it should, so I'm gonna have to do that too.
Also, I'm facing the problem of the springs being cut, because it's tearing up the wheels and makes turning either direction difficult and the tires are scraping (badly) when I cut the wheel too hard in either direction.. It's a daily driver as well as a project so I need to get all of that fixed asap.
I'm going to be doing a lot of the work myself (except what I just can't) since I have full access to a shop my friend's dad owns, so thanks for the heads up on those manuals.

Re: Need some verification please!!!
for a quick and cheap solution for springs, try this scrap yard site:
http://www.car-part.com/
remember, these are used parts, so depends on luck to find what you need and they might not be in pristine condition, but springs should last long.

Thanks, I should be able to get those replaced and the engine tuned this weekend, and an alignment and new tires at the beginning of next week!
That's a big step forward.
