going down the 405 today, i heard a huge gust of wind against my 94 civic ex coupe, doing a quick check for what it was, i finally went to check my sunroof, when i opened the interior cover, my sunroof glass was missing, it was completely closed prior to when it happened, the frame work is still in place, although a little bent now, what happened??? how is the sunroof glass held on? and what would just make it fly off like that? luckily i work for a honda dealership so the parts will be a lot cheaper to get, but still, not looking forward to fixing this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated guys, thanks

those glass are super expensive so good luck. sounds to me either it wasnt bolted in tightly (there are 4 securing bolts to hold it on), or the metal that holds the glass got separated which is possible on an old piece. what is left on the car?

all the framework for it is still bolted down on the car, only the glass is missing, its just beyond me how that can happen, from the looks of it, all that was really holds the glass is a silicone like substance

Im guessing the rubber seals ripped apart, wind got under it, and ripped your window out....
But must have been some gust!

yeah the glass cannot be bolted to its carrying brackets, and over time the glue or whatever they use can come apart. it happens

yea, i must have been doing 75 or 80 down the freeway, bad weather with gusts up to 45, i mean that would be 120 minimum against the original sealant, either way, im gonna go get an estimate for the glass tomorrow, but if the price is too high, ive been thinking of ripping the framework out, sanding down the roof, and welding a peice of steel in its place, ive been getting into aftermarket lighting so maybe doing something in the empty space above, plus it would finally give me an excuse to go have it repainted finally lol

nah just replace the glass. you dont know how much other people out there (me) wish they had a sun roof. damn lx....

kinda like the guys with hatches wishing they had power locks and windows.....god im glad i got an ex pl, pw, and a sunroof =P

You should try putting an APB out on your sunroof, and put up Lost Sunroof posters around town, see if anybody turns up with it.
