Working on my first car, pointers?

Helloo, new here and hoping to join the community.

I've never really been into cars where as my friends are car freaks but I recently got a red 95 civic ex coupe tossed my way from my uncle in great condition and I kind of just fell in love with the thing. Something about it sparked this huge interest in cars in me but to be honest I have no idea where to start.

We haven't done much to it yet except clean/polish it, add a new audio system, and tint the windows. But I want to start looking into some performance options and although my friends have pointed me in a few directions I would actually prefer a community opinion that could point me somewhere to do some extensive research for my car. I do plan to do a swap and from what some people have told me it seems to be b18 or k20 but still I don't know. If you guys could recommend some decent performance mods I should do first that'd be great, I just kinda need a push on the right path. I just know I want it to perform well against like.. a stock RSX or something like that haha.. I dunno. Keep in mind I make enough to suffice about $1,000 a month in spending money.

On a side note, Enkei EDR9's in silver on my civic good/bad idea?

Thanks!

i would stick with b18 and mod that engine with some good boltons, maybe even supercharger.

Best motors to swap is either the b18c1 (gsr- 170hp forgot torque), k20a2 (ctr- 200hp forgot torque lol), or the k24a2 (tsx- 200hp, 176 trq). Or also in the k series group that would be cheaper k24a1 (crv 160hp, 163 trq). Either of these motors will put you where you want.

Yeah I've talked to a few people regarding b18 vs k20 and I'm always told to go b18.

Aside from the engine what are some other specific things I should be looking at such as specific intakes, exhausts, etc?

They say go b18 cause they are easier to swap in but the k series will be where its at. If you swapped in a k it would be able to beat that b series. Built k always beats built b. And for the brands there are alot of good brands out there to choose that for yourself

The k24 is enticing haha.. people just make it seem like the k series engines are going to be incredibly difficult to do versus the b18 which the simplicity of the swap is worth sacrificing the performance. I'd prefer the performance but I just don't know the hassle of putting in a k series versus a b.
