I have a 92 Civic that starts and drives perfect. Every once in a while when I go to turn it over it just keeps turning over and over and over. It's like it isn't getting gas or spark or something. I keep pumping it sometimes it fires up and sometimes I have to get a couple guys to push so we can pop the clutch. Then the car is fine again. Anyone have any suggestions or experienced similar problems? Not sure if it needs cap, rotor and all that jazz. Or perhaps a fuel filter. I am just puzzled as to why it only does it on occasion. Thanks.
i have a 91 civic station wagon w/ the hatchback, that did that aswell for a wile. i put some fuel . it was Pro-Gard/12 oz. fuel injector cleaner. it seemed to fix it becouse my car dont do it anymore.
check ur main relay switch cuz that just happened 2 mine n now its fixed but if u really wanna make sure it is take a piece of wire n stick it in the 5n7 slots n jump the relay 2 make sure that that is ur problem
mine did that...frustrating and the regular mechanics all wanted me to buy new fuel pump or distributer...turned out it was a bad heat sensor.
sounds like what mine was doing a while ago. My problem was the ignition. I changed my plugs, wires, cap and rotor (along with the msd external coil just for fun) and havent had that problem ever again. But before you do all that, spray some wd40 on both ends of your plug wires for a better connection. Its a great temporary fix.

Mine has same 'not starting' issue, more not than starting right now. Has anyone heard of the issue being in the ignition switch? Have changed out distributor, distributer cap, fuel pump and the main relay. When it doesn't start, the fuel pump won't pump, can't get it out of park-brake isn't allowing and the check engine light doesn't go off. When it gets started it runs great!

If your ignition switch was bad then you wouldnt be even able to turn your car on. It wouldnt even turn the radio or anything on. Sounds kinda like fuel pressure problems to me.Originally Posted by Blondie40

Sounds like the Coil maybe going out, replace that along with the ignitor. They tend to go out around the same time
