Burned Speed Sensor/ Car Won't Start
Burned Speed Sensor/ Car Won't Start
Hello. New to this forum and have a, hopefully not serious, problem with my '95 Civic LX.
I was leaving work yesterday and noticed that my SRS light was on, on the dash. About 1-2 minutes after that happened, smoke started to come out from under the hood. I quickly moved to the side of the road, just in time as my car cut off on me seconds after. It would not start up again.
I popped the hood and I followed the smell and saw that my speed sensor had been burned (literally). My buddy picked me up and took me to the auto parts store and I bought a new one. Replaced it... and nothing. My car still will not start. I'm thinking a fuse was blown, but I don't know which one. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars, so I need all the help I can get.
Has anyone heard of this happening? Any advice as what can be done, or where would be a good starting point. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
To add, my speed sensor had stopped working about 2 weeks prior to this happening. My transmission was acting up as well but only until the check engine light came on, then the car would run fine.
