New honda owner!!!!

Well, I invested in my first Honda last week as a daily driver and she needs a little TLC. It's a 92' SI Hatch !

Anyway, I need to adjust the timing belt but i'm not sure exactly what to do. I'm firmiliar with the engine a little on the outside as I already had to change the water pump . I believe the timing belt is a little loose because as I put load on the engine, the timing belt (coming DOWN off the cam pulley) is flapping around slightly... Enough to where it hits the motor mount, which I believe will eventually wear the belt down. Is there like a belt tensioner for the timing belt I missed somewhere? Or is the timing belt just too big?

Any input would be appreciated..

welcome, yeah they have belt tensioners, you may need to just replace it cause i think most are auto tensioning.

When you install the timing belt, after verifying that the crankshaft is in the TDC position and the camshaft pulley is lined up correctly...

1. slide the belt on
2. rotate the CRANKshaft with a socket wrench counterclockwise for a distance of 3 teeth on the CAMshaft pulley. (this is what applies tension to the belt)
3. tighten the belt tensioner bolt.
