I just bought a civic ex w/ a 1.6L Vtec 4-banger. Is this a noisy engine in general, or is this slight noise something to fix immediately?

o and to answer your question yes this is a relatively quiet engine until VTEC kicks in which is somewhere around 4000rpms you prob have the d16z6 thats what mine is im having troubles with it right now but when it was running smooth it was a very quiet engine of course until VTEC engaged haha

It's around 1500 rpm, and when we tested it the clutch was out, so it was definitely an engine noise. It is extremely faint but it sounds like just a little tapping sound. You have to be right at 1500 rpm for it to happen. It doesn't happen anywhere else.
