Question 95 DX modifications

Hi everyone, this is my first thread on this forum. I just got a 95 DX that is all stock. I am going to be modding this out, but i wanted to know what i should start with. I am thinking the engine, what mods do you think i could start with to gain some HP. Also does anyone have any ideas of what mods i can add to this or some examples of what you have done. Any info would be helpful. thanks.

Also what mods can i do to a stock engine.

Re: 95 DX modifications

i have a 95 4dr dx with the d15b7. currently i have added a cold air kit and full exhaust. 2.5" that includes header and test pipe. the top end has definately improved but the bottem end has suffered. im currently researching an h22a swap.

You should start off with a "mini-me" swap. Take a head off a d16z6(vtec head) and bolt it on with your d15 bottom end.. i have a complete motor for sale.. then add cold air exhaust and such.. maybe even befor you do the head swap build the vtec head with a crowler cam skunk2 intake manifold. butt a gsr throttle body on the intake mani.. thats a nice start

mini-me's are nice swaps when done right they will last awhile. If done sheisty they will blow same with any builds or swaps. If your trying to build something best advice is have back up money and plans, or another car. If I was you tho id frank a b18a head with a b20 block. dc headers and 3.25 from the headers back to a hks hipower can. Adj your valve clearances about .002 above what they are now at oem specs. bump your timing a half a tooth, run a TRUE forced induction kit, and upgrade your dist wires to 10mm with some iridium plugs. That should be a relatively cheap and efficient start.

Wow they just started throughing things at you. LOL... Witch are some good things. First off you need to figuar out what your budget is. Second what is you long tearm goal with this car?

If youve got fat pockets. A motor swap is the way to go. They are endless for the EG chassi. Any of the following: step up to a d15b witch is alil more power then what you have. And I like much better then a mini me swap anyday. Then you have any of the B series motors, F series, H series {my fav} K's and the newest to the EG world the v6 J swaps.

If you pockets arnt so full. A cold air intake and a full exhaust system will help out some. Then you have the turbo route.
Its just one of them things thats endless of what you could do. But your budget and long term goal is what you need to figuar first. You dont want to spend 100.00 on a header now and 2 weeks decide you want to swap in a B series. You just wasted time and money. Just my .02 hope this helps you out.

Would any J series motors fit in a '94 Civic DX?

yea youd have the imfamous motor mount and wiring harness to tackle. Youd have to weld the mounts on as well. But all in all yes it would fit. Just would take some careful measurements and what have you. They really arent much bigger than an F-series.....just a little taller.
