My daughters 92 civic started running rough so I changed spark plugs. All the plugs looked great untill I pulled the wire off of the last plug and it came up covered in oil. The whole plug wire was submerged in oil.
What would cause this?

Either the spark plug isnt threaded properly and your have some serious issues going on in the cylinder that are causing oil to enter, or the more likely option would be a sloppy oil change where oil spilled over the valve cover and down the spark plug tube. If the threads look good and there are no cracks in the plugs tube, then it was probably someone doing a crappy oil change.

Thanks Triz, I must have a problem in the clyinder cause I changed the plug and it was re-flooded with oil again.No water in oil just straight 5w30.
Oh well, 180k so I can't complain.

Call me crazy but would there be an o-ring gone bad?

But then again I'm not burning oil so maybe O- ring is it.
Not sure where to begin the search?

Check out majestic honda diagram of the head. Get someone else to confirm it but I bet that could be it (if there is an o-ring in the first place)

i just had this problem with moms 92 accord. two of the plugs and the wire boots were dripping in oil. i ended up changing the valve cover gasket and spark plug seals and then putting new plugs in. so far the car starts much faster and easier, and after 3 days the wire boots and plugs are bone dry. hope it helps. valve cover gaskets and seals were $20 at auto store and took maybe 30 mins working slowly to fix.
