93 civic mess...

i just bought a 1993 civic HB and it has a D16 Z in it and some weird cheap *** after market intake. so the car runs a lil shitty the CEL light is on and i pulled the code using the old paper clip trick and it pulled 10 which is a guess air temp sensor... idk the sensor was'nt in the after market intake but there was another on it with a not so factory harness going to it... so idk anyone give me a pointers ?

I just wanna get the car running good and also how do you check if your VTEC is working ? and what computer should my car have ? a P28 ? or what ?

Thanks guys

Mines a 93 m8
EG5
D16Z6
and the only thing connected to my air intake pipe was a vaccum hose
Mine was a bit chuggy when i got it but i put it down to rubbish gas and dumped some additive into the gas to clean out the jets
Runs like a dream now

Re: 93 civic mess...

He means the IAT(intake air temp) It is on the side of the number 1 plenum runner of the intake manifold. Most of the of the OBD-1 IAT's are on the side of the number one plenum. Keep in mind that when I say number 1 I am speaking of the cylnders starting from right to left. Then following the number 1 cylnder to the corresponding intake runner. CHECK YOUR WIRES! There are only two wires on that sensor, so checking them is no big deal. If you've got an IAT you can try, just change it out. They are only mounted in with two phillips screws. If they are not the factory wires as you suspect, then get the harness off of any civic 92-95 solder it in. Wire the two wires, put in another sensor, reset the ECU,drive as much as you can afford.

And yes you want to use a p28 for your d16z6.

Let me know if this helps,
Brad
