Cool i just got a 93 civic

i got this car for free plus 1000$ for my ford probe. i want to work on it and i dont know nething about honda at all. it is a 1993 civic 4dr auto tranny and has a 1.5l engine. i need to know the engine code like b14 b16. it is non-vtech and super slow. but i couldnt pass up the deal. i dont have any major issues with it that i cant fix. the tranny NEVER down shifts and i have to 1,2,3,4 it to go threw the gears, also have a clicking noise-ticking noise coming from the driver side under the hood. but goes away at higher rpms.. ne help would be increddable... thanks ~crazycelica69~

okay, the 1.5l engine code, if my memory serves correct, is the B15, the transmission sounds bad, suggest maybe a manual transmission upgrade? As for the clicking/ticking noise, is it when you turn? Go straight ahead? general driving(no matter direction)?

The engine code will be a d15b7. As far as the ticking sound, the valves might need to be adjusted.

Flush the tranny, you may have a journle clogged or the filter may be plugged. Diconnect the flowing side of the transmission line that goes to the radiator and run it into a five gallon bucket, start the car keep filling it with transmission fluid so it doesn't run out. It will take probably three gallons of tranny fluid and you do this until it runs bright red into the bucket. Afterwrds you connect the line back and fill to proper level.
