hey guys,a new member here.i've got a problem with my 94 civic dx with an auto tranny.while driving to work last night,the car felt like it was about to stall out.at the light the engine sputtered,but did not die,went about 20 feet then ran fine the rest of the way to work,which was about 5 miles.drove home 12 miles this morning and ran normally.this is the first problem i've had in the 1 1/2 years i've owned it.engine is stock except for a cold air intake.has a 1/2 tank of fuel,full oil,coolant,and tranny fluid.also no leaks.thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

my car is doing the same thing but mine is a manual
still my problem is either piston rings are fried or headgasket blew.
have you noticed any smoke coming from the exhaust?

no smoke.my car runs great.it only stumbled that one time.i've been driving it daily since that one problem.runs fine.does not burn oil,overheat,tranny fluid looks good,idles fine.mabye i just got some bad gas?

was it cold when this happened, if it was you should let it warm up, but if it was warmed up it seems like it would be something with the fuel

was not cold.been driving the civic all day.engine temp was normal and the weather was about 70 outside.
my girl tends to drive til it's just about empty,i told her to keep at least a 1/4 tank from now on.

Check your fuel lines, they tend to rust up a bit on 5th gen civic. I own a '92 EX-V and that's what I had to do. When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter?

i have'nt changed the fuel filter yet.i plan on replacing it at the next oil change.

Do you run the car right to the end of the gas tank? I usually do (I know how bad it is for the engine) and my fuel filter clogged. I had the same kind of trouble, except I had trouble starting the car aswell.

my girl does.the car never actually runs out of gas,but she takes the needle right to empty.i told her not to do that anymore.
