Daily Driver?
Daily Driver?
I didn't post this in the wanted section, simply because I'm not looking for a specific car nor do I have the money at this moment. I currently own a 2001 Ford Mustang GT Bullitt, and I just wanna buy another car when I get the money to use as my daily driver. I don't know what to go with, Honda, Acura, Nissan, etc., so I'm posting here, maybe I can get a good answer. I don't care what the car looks like, what year it is, etc., as long as it drives well and it has no problems, and it shouldn't really be over $1000, unless I need to fork over a little more for one in good mechanical shape. I don't want any biased answers, so any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Daily Driver?
Go with something japanese- aka, honda, acura, nissan.. You really didnt tell us anything specific that your looking for in this vehicle, so pretty much anything seems like it would work for you as long as it doesnt break.
Re: Daily Driver?
I guess you're right, so let me rephrase. Is $1000 enough for a car in good working shape? Maybe when I get the money I can get help from here, because there might be a car worth the money now, but there's not much I can do is there
.
[EDIT]
Btw, if that's your music in your MySpace, it's pretty tight. Dope beats and you can rhyme

Re: Daily Driver?
Yeah you were very vauge. But a early 90s import car.
Two door-light weight
Roll up windows-light weight.
Manual trans.
The reason I'm telling you this is because a lighter car will give you better mpg.

Re: Daily Driver?
I remember my first car, a '97 Mazda 626 (4 cylinder, not 6,) ran like a champ. It was given to me by my aunt, but before she did, she fixed the head gaskets. They blew on me and I was driving around with them broken to and from work, and occasionally a little more, and I never changed the oil or checked the coolant level since it blew. Anyway, it ran for a good 6-7 months like that, until a friend looked in the car and called me an idiot. The engine was leaking a little, I had oil in my coolant reservoir and vice-versa, man that car wouldn't die! Any hopes to another car like that? It ran good on gas, I'd fill it up with 89 octane, about $13 every week or so, and it was more than enough to last me.

Re: Daily Driver?
Its tough to find a clean jap car these days for dirt cheap because everyone turns them into projects. Anything with a rustless shell, running motor or not is still worth some money. You can get a crappy looking runner for cheap, but I'd say you'll still need $2K. 1K would be total beater.
Re: Daily Driver?
well are you going to sell your mustang?
cause if you are and you have a local school like a high school near your house pass by there nd take that route when people get outta school with a for sale sign cause i've seen plenty of cars sold that way by my school.
some nice cars
and some decent ones too
either way most parents that i know of don't really wanna buy a new car so if they get an oppurtunity they'd get a used one right?
well if your stang looks good then it'll catch someones eye at the school that needs a car.
and well if its just them buyin it no parents involved they are willing to spend more.
at least thats how it is around where i live nd go to school

Re: Daily Driver?
Like everyone else said 1k will really only buy a dragged in the dirt beater. Unless some1 is really desperate to sale you wont be happy with a 1k car. I sold my 89 hatch for like 2300. I bought it for 800 but I had to work on it. I would say 2-2.5k on a decent commuter with a ok body and a sound engine.
Re: Daily Driver?
So $2000 it is, thanks for all the replies.
Nah, she's my baby
. I'm tired of driving her around to work day in and day out, I've only owned her for a little over a month and a half and I already added 2100 miles
