2000 Civic Transmission Problems. Help!
2000 Civic Transmission Problems. Help!
Hey Everyone,
I recently purchased a 2000 electron blue honda civic coupe 5 speed from a gold certified honda dealership here in montreal canada. The vehicle has 155 000 km (97 000 miles) and was covered under legal warranty up to 154 000 km
The other day while driving, I noticed a slight rattling noise when i reached a speed of 65 km/h or as soon as I put the car into fourth gear. As I went faster, the vibration got louder. The sound seems to be in harmony with the throttle. If i give the car gas the noise gets louder, if i coast the noise stops. The sound also occurs in lower gears, it is just not as loud. Another thing I realized is when I hold my shift **** the noise seems to alter depending on how I grip it. If I depress the clutch the sound also stops.
Therefore, this leads me to believe I am having some sort of transmission/gear trouble.
If anyone could shed any light on my situation, that would be great as I am no longer under warranty and worried about the comming cost of repairs
Thanks a bunch,
Jeff
