strange overheating issue d16y8

Hey all, a new rather odd issue has come up. My car is over heating on me and i cant figure out why... i have replaced upper and lower radiator hoses, the thermostat, and the radiator cap today. I bled the system 100% and all seemed well, i drove it around for about 10 minutes thinking all was well so i grabbed gas. After that it still seemed good so i kept driving. Then i saw the needle move much higher and to my surprise the passenger side of the engine bay was covered in coolant steaming??? I truly cant figure out why im spraying, i was not in the red for heat like i was when this first started maybe a third of a needle higher then normal temp. I know i need a new fan it would appear aswell but i tested my car with almost no stops not just sitting so i am very confused right now? Any thoughts

Re: strange overheating issue d16y8

Sorry i figured i would add a little more info,
No white exhaust smoke
Oil slightly runny consistency
Coolent only seems to spray from passenger side of motor behind distribilutor and seems to mainly be localized to spraying right at the starter which is really irritating.
I will replace the fan switch tomorrow

I am not scared to do the job whatever it is but diagnosing the problem is driving me insane lol

Assuming you got the radiator hoses installed proper and not leaking, and thermostat installed proper and not leaking......

The leak sounds like where the heater hose connects to the head, under the distributor. Many get oil soaked and the rubber is swollen and mushy from the distributor leaking oil for a few years.

Overheating the engine does cause damage, and it doesn't have to max out the gauge to cause damage.
