how to tell my engine type

I have 1998 Honda civic hatchback. The timing belt needs to be done and im wondering how I can find out if its vtech or sohc?

Engine code location:





Google the number (the large print number), pick the Wikipedia link. Look at specs for your engine.



If you have VTEC (note: no H) you would have one of these valves stuck to the head






If you don't have dual camshafts, it's SOHC.

D16y7.thats the code,I think it's a sohc engine not a vtech,correct?

Right. See this link:
