First Honda

Hi all
I hope I'm in the right section.I am look at buying a 1998 Honda civic hatchback They tell me it has 149,345 km.pretty low for that year I thought. I was able to get them down to 2300$.I always have this little voice no matter who is selling what, are the km legit! I have no idea how to tell. Very nice little car though. I would greatly appreciate all feedback that could be helpful.

Re: First Honda

Hey! Welcome to the forums...

I've seen a couple 99-00 coupes around where I live lately with about the same kms on them for $1600 and $2500 so that seems about right. The timing belt needs to be replaced at either 7 years or 160 000 kms so I would check on that...it should have got it's second timing belt around 2012.

Any pics? Links to the ad?

The 6th gen (1996-2000) are considered to be some of the best Civics made so far.

Re: First Honda

If your not sure about the timing belt I would just get it done. Better safe then sorry! Do the timing belt tensioner also.

Re: First Honda

I will get it done ASAP.My friend has the same car and has rebuilt the engines before we will do it together. The car runs super good nothing dripping underneath nothing .nice and dry.changed the oil took for long drive.other then it being really plane definitely not like my Duramax its comfy and drives well for 2300...
