Rep Power: 0 1997 Automatic Transmission Breather Cap
I have a 1997 Honda Civic dx which I bought used. It loses transmission fluid. I figured it was an old car and probably the seals were bad. I've also noticed a short hollow tube on the top of the transmission housing on side of the housing closest the front of the car. It is about 10-12 mm in diameter.
I happened to be looking at an exploded parts diagram of the automatic transmission and see there is a breather cap for the transmission. I'm wondering if maybe it is missing on mine and that could account for some of the fluid loss?
Does anyone have a picture of this section of the transmission so I can see how it is supposed to look?
TIA

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

automatic or manual trans?
If it is losing fluid, step #1 is to get under it and find where the source of the leak is.
If it's too messy to tell, then clean it all off and start fresh.
Axle seals are a common leak point.
